  1. G500 Gets Steep Approach Approval From FAA
The Gulfstream G500 has been certified for steep-approaches. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval comes after the G500 demonstrated that it can fly the low-speed high-angle approaches into airports like Lugano in Switzerland and London City Airport. "Our customers already benefit from the revolutionary performance and efficiency of the G500," said Gulfstream president Mark Burns. "We are now pleased to deliver steep-approach capability as well, providing additional flexibility by unlocking access to even more destinations around the world."
  2. There are other airports which require steep approach but these two are prominent because at London City there are very strict noise-abatement rules in place as well as a short runway. Lugano has an extremely steep approach profile because it is located at the mouth of a valley. The aircraft seats up to 19 and sleeps up to eight and can fly 5,300 nautical miles/9,816 kilometers at Mach 0.85 or 4,500 nm/8,334 km at Mach 0.90. It has a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925.
