A350 news The first coat of paint in Airbus livery should be ready on the A350 next week, people familiar with the project say. After that, the high-tech carbon-composite jet will be dressed ready for the first flight, which most industry sources expect in late June or early July.
Of course everybody now knows that the first test production aircraft of the A350-900XWB was rolled out of the Airbus paintshed yesterday for the first time in the Airbus colours.
Airbus is expected to take more orders than deliveries, says EADS in its first-quarter statement, with a gross order figure of around 700. Deliveries will be around 600-610 aircraft.

Japan's All Nippon Airways considers the Airbus A350 a "good candidate" to replace some Boeing 777s, its chief executive said on Sunday, in a sign that the airline could place its first order for Airbus big jets. "The A350-1000 can be a good candidate for us," Osamu Shinobe told Reuters on the sidelines of the IATA conference in Cape Town. "It is realistic to consider this as a replacement for the 777. In the near future, when we look at the replacement candidates, this can be a very good and strong candidate." Japanese airlines have long been considered a fortress for Boeing. Japan Airlines is also considered a candidate to buy the Airbus A350-1000. Boeing is offering a revamped version of its best-selling wide-body jet, the 777, but so far ANA is not "aggressively" looking at the so-called 777-9X upgraded model, Shinobe said. (Reuters)

Chandler will be joined by project test pilot Guy Magrin, project test-flight engineer Pascal Verneau, flight operations chief Fernando Alonso, flight-test engineer Emanuele Costanzo and head of development flight tests Patrick Du Che will comprise the other three MSN1 crew members.
Airbus Looking At Output Increase For A320neo Airbus is studying a possible increase in production of its medium-haul A320 aircraft once the A320neo enters the market but the immediate priority is to ensure a smooth entry to service, sales chief John Leahy said. Airbus currently produces 42 of the existing A320 each month. It plans in 2015 to introduce a fuel-saving version with new engines that has so far outsold a comparable Boeing jet. In an interview, Leahy reiterated Airbus hoped to maintain 60 percent of the crucial market for the industry's most popular jets, something Boeing is expected to fight hard to resist. Asked whether Airbus would increase production to reflect its current sales advantage, Leahy said, "We are studying that," but stressed such an increase would be years away. Output of the current-generation A320 will remain stable, he added. Airbus may announce an order for the A380 superjumbo among several deals to be announced at the June 17-23 Paris air show, Leahy told Reuters on the sidelines of the IATA airlines summit. (Reuters)
Tunisair possibly cancels A350-800 order The flag-carrier had ordered three of the type in July 2008. However, Airbus's order figures up until the end of May no longer showcase the Tunisair A350s. This warrants the thought that Tunisair possibly cancelled that order.
The first Airbus A350-900 testbed performed its first taxi trials today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Q46DawlqDts
With the initial low-speed taxi tests out of the way, the Airbus A350-900XWB has started braking tests. The aircraft performed braking manoeuvres at various speeds on the runway at Blagnac. It is said the high-speed RTO (Rejected Take Off) has not been performed as yet.
Athough the the A350 test program is supposed to have independent ATC so as to ensure the French ATC strike doesn't affect proceedings, it seems that it may hamper the first flight of the new Airbus jet.
