The final assembly line for the LearJet 85 has been set up. With first deliveries expected in 2013, the line has been developed although at the time it remained idle as testing is still being undertaken on the 32-foot long pressurized fuselage. Bombardier states that the final assembly plant located in Wichita, Kansas is ready for operation. At the time, the fuselage and wing structure remained in Querétaro, Mexico at Bombardiers' factory there. A number of aircraft from Bombardier are expected to enter service in 2013, the CS100, the new LearJet 70 and 75 as well as the Lear jet 85. Bombardier expects to deliver 160 business jets for 2012. ***

News is that Bombardier has confirmed that they plan to launch a scaled-down version to its new Learjet 85 which is currently being assembled. "I think there is an opportunity between the 75 and 85," according to Ralph Acs the vice-president and general manager of Learjet. The market appears to fall within the super-light segment now that is currently occupied by the Learjet 45XR. Of coursewe know that the 45XR will be replaced replaced by the all-new and revamped Learjet 75 model due in 2013. Although the name of the new scaled-back model has not been offically named, Mr. Acs said it could be the 81, who knows? ***
I guess everybody has heard of Bombardier's decision to halt production on their Learjet 60XR due to the economic crisis and more so to slow sales. This seven-passenger jet, which boasts a 2,405 nautical mile range and a cruise speed of Mach 0.81. In 2011, Bombardier delivered 19 business jets in the 60XR model and by Q1 2012 only 3 had been reportedly delivered. ***
Curious on the Bomardiers C-Jets, if they will deliver the economy and performance promised and if Airlines will buy them in large numbers? Should be a great plane with the latest technology and the -300 series should be right in the middle of Airbus and Boeing territory.

Yeah, right in the middle of the smaller mainline markets., but stiff competition: The Russians, the Chinese, the Japanese, the Brazilians, etc are also producing that size aircraft. Crowded market segment, survial of the fittest, but personally I think the C jet is on the cutting edge with low noise and low fuel consumption. Hopefully it will take off and be a success, but orders are only trickling in so far.
The Lineage 1000 from Embraer! (Brazilians) Kinda close cousin to the E190 (same company) which is a popular regional type jet. The Lineage 1000 seems to have so much space though. The 319 and 737 BBJs are wide for business jets at least (In that size category).
