The FlexShare Program Offers Flexjet Owners More Customization Options...

Flexjet – one of the world’s most premium fractional jet ownership providers – is launching FlexShare, a unique program providing fractional jet owners with guaranteed access to two different aircraft types with the purchase of a single 50-hour share. Based on their specific flight requirements, FlexShare owners may now customize the allocation of their annual hours among Flexjet’s fleet of legendary Learjet and Challenger aircraft.

“Flexjet offers the highest levels of customization in the fractional jet ownership industry, and truly delivers on the promise of flexibility its name inspires,” said Deanna White, President, Flexjet. “Creating the FlexShare program – featuring the tremendous benefit of ownership in two different aircraft – is yet another example of Flexjet’s dedication to creating custom solutions based on our owners’ unique needs.”

As part of this program, FlexShare customers pay the full purchase price for one share of a selected aircraft type based on vintage. The single, blended monthly management fee is determined by the aircraft types in the FlexShare mix, along with the selected division of hours: 40/10, 35/15, 30/20 or 25/25. Owners secure contracts for the hourly rates and the Fuel Component Adustment (FCA) for both aircraft in their selected program.

FlexShare owners also benefit from a number of distinctive features Flexjet offers for even greater value and flexibility. This includes a 90-Day Satisfaction Guarantee, allowing new Flexjet fractional owners to exit their contract for any reason within the initial three-month period – regardless of contract. Owners also benefit from access to multiple aircraft on the same day, as well as a unique five percent program aircraft guarantee assuring travelers will fly on a Flexjet fractional ownership program aircraft 95 per cent of the time or better. Finally, owners are able to participate in Versatility Plus, a program enabling Flexjet owners to realize value from unused, allocated hours by placing them in a pool for exchange with other owners. Since its introduction in 2004, this program has returned more than $31.5 million back into the hands of Flexjet owners who would have otherwise lost those hours.

Paperless: Flexjet Secures FAA Authorization for iPad2 as Paperless Cockpit Solution

Electronic device increases pilot productivity while reducing costs and more than 120 pounds of paper on each flight. Flexjet – one of the world’s most exclusive fractional jet ownership companies – has received conditional authorization from the Federal Aviation Administration for the use of Apple® iPads as Electronic Flight Bags for fractional flights conducted under 14 CFR 91, Subpart K. The Phase 5 authorization comes after six months of validation testing of the device across Flexjet’s fleet of aircraft and acceptance of its standard operating procedures. The company’s complete transition from paper to electronic navigational charts is planned for January 2013. “The FAA validation test was critical to the success of Flexjet’s Electronic Flight Bag program, and we are quite pleased with the results collected during the test period,” said Thomas Cantabene, Chief Pilot, Flexjet.

The Electronic Flight Bags’ mobile technology replaces paper-based reference materials – including navigational charts and aircraft operating manuals – with real-time data and increased situational awareness for those operating the aircraft. Each iPad device weighs approximately 1.35 pounds, significantly less than the more than 120 pounds in printed materials typically required per flight. Replacing paper with the device also results in more than half a gallon of fuel saved per flight hour, creating less of an impact on the environment.

Bombardier and CAE to establish 2nd Bombardier Business Aircraft Training Facility in Amsterdam and Expand Authorized Training Provider Agreement

Bombardier appoints CAE as Authorized Training Provider for pilot and maintenance training for all Bombardier business jets in Europe CAE named worldwide Authorized Training Provider for Global 5000, Global 6000, Global 7000 and Global 8000 business jets Bombardier and CAE continued to expand their customer services offering for the growing number of Bombardier business jet operators in Europe, announcing today that they will establish a new Bombardier-dedicated training center in Amsterdam, scheduled to open in 2014. Bombardier has also appointed CAE as the Authorized Training Provider (ATP) for business jet pilot and maintenance training in Europe, and named CAE as the worldwide Authorized Training Provider for Global 5000, Global 6000, Global 7000 and Global 8000 business jets.

The Bombardier-dedicated facility in Amsterdam will begin by offering pilot and maintenance training on Global 5000 and Global 6000 aircraft equipped with the Bombardier Vision Flight Deck, and then expand progressively based on demand. Bombardier currently provides pilot and maintenance training for Global 5000 and Global 6000 aircraft operators at its Montréal training centre, where it also provides training for Challenger 605, Global Express and Global Express XRS business jets. The site will complement CAE's ATP location in London (Burgess Hill), U.K., which offers training for the Learjet 40, Learjet 45, Global Express and Global Express XRS aircraft, and in Amsterdam, which offers training on the Challenger 300 and Challenger 604 business jets.

When fully equipped, the facility will offer Level D Full-Flight Simulators and an integrated suite of flight training devices and advanced classroom settings to provide both pilot and maintenance training for multiple Bombardier business aircraft platforms. “Through our ATP agreement with CAE, we are continuing to make more training programs available in more locations and providing our customers worldwide with OEM-backed training closer to their base of operation,” said Éric Martel, President, Bombardier Customer Services & Specialized and Amphibious Aircraft. “Pilot and maintenance training are an important part of a world-class service and support offering, and another example of how we put our customers first at Bombardier.”

Seems like the C-Series Bombardier first flight and subsequent first delivery will be delayed. I myself wasn't exactly sure how Bombardier were going to make the first flight by the end of the year, that just didn't look feasible.

The CSeries aircraft development program is making solid progress. The build for both the Complete Airframe Static Test (CAST) and the first flight test aircraft is progressing well. Results from the on-the-ground integrated systems test and certification rig (CIASTA/Aircraft 0) are as expected.

A number of key milestones have already been met, but at this point in the program the Aerospace group has encountered certain issues, mainly related to some suppliers. Therefore, first flight will now take place by the end of June 2013 and it is expected that entry-into-service (EIS) of the CS100 aircraft will occur approximately one year after first flight.

Bombardier Learjet Employees Accept Labor Agreement

Bombardier Learjet announced today that its unionized employees in Wichita, members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW), have voted to accept a proposed contract agreement, ending a strike action that began on October 8, 2012. Employees may return to work as early as November 12, 2012.

“We are satisfied with the outcome of the vote and are confident in moving forward and continuing to work with all of our employees,” said Ralph Acs, Vice President and General Manager, Bombardier Learjet. “The agreement reflects our mutual commitment to the long-term success of our site. We believe the strength and long-term potential of Learjet in Wichita resides with the products we manufacture and the experienced, dedicated and skilled workforce that contributes to the production and maintenance of world-class aircraft.”

Delta Air Lines Orders up to 70 Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen Jetliners

Bombardier Aerospace announced today that Delta Air Lines, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia has placed a firm order for 40 CRJ900 NextGen regional jets and has taken options on an additional 30 CRJ900 NextGen aircraft. Based on the list price of the CRJ900 NextGen aircraft, the firm order is valued at approximately $1.85 billion US, and could reach approximately $3.29 billion US if the 30 options are converted to firm orders. The new CRJ900 NextGen regional jets will be configured with 76 seats in a two-class cabin and will be operated by Delta Connection carriers to be determined by Delta Air Lines.

“We selected Bombardier’s CRJ900 NextGen aircraft specifically because it is proven to be the most cost-efficient jet aircraft in its class for our operations and this regional jet satisfies perfectly the agreement that we have made with our pilots to add 70 more 76-seat jetliners to our fleet,” said Ed Bastian, President, Delta Air Lines. “We have selected the CRJ aircraft for our restructuring plan based on the strength and reliability of their performance with our Delta Connection carriers over the years.” Delta Connection carriers currently fly 466 CRJ Series aircraft − 286 CRJ200, 79 CRJ700 and 101 CRJ900 jetliners − making it the world’s largest CRJ aircraft fleet. The CRJ900 airliners in the Delta Connection fleet include 57 flown by Pinnacle Airlines, 16 by ExpressJet Airlines and 28 by SkyWest Airlines.

“Building on a relationship that is 20 years strong, we are delighted that Delta – one of the world’s largest, most prestigious global airlines – continues to select Bombardier CRJ regional jets to replenish its fleet,” said Mike Arcamone, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. “CRJ aircraft have been in service with Delta Connection carriers since 1993 when Comair became the first North American airline to operate the CRJ100 regional jet. Including the order from Delta Air Lines announced today, Bombardier has recorded firm orders for 1,775 CRJ Series aircraft, including 314 CRJ900 and CRJ900 NextGen aircraft. Worldwide, CRJ Series aircraft are in service with more than 60 airlines and more than 30 customers operate corporate variants of the aircraft. The aircraft are operating in over 50 countries on six continents, and on average, a CRJ aircraft takes off every ten seconds somewhere in the world. CRJ Series aircraft have transported more than 1.2 billion passengers and have logged more than 34 million flight hours and over 28 million takeoffs and landings.

Bombardier Inc. has booked the largest single firm order for business jets in its history with a deal to sell 56 Global aircraft for $3.1-billion to VistaJet Holding SA, as the Swiss charter company makes a push into emerging markets including Brazil, China, Russia and Africa.

Sales of Bombardier’s Global line, the larger among its business jets, have been stronger than those of smaller craft because their customers are typically well-heeled individuals and corporations who were less affected by the recession, said Steve Ridolfi, president of Bombardier Business Aircraft. At the same time, burgeoning economies in more remote areas are helping drive that growth.

The contract could swell to 142 Global business aircraft if all options are exercised, potentially increasing its value to $7.8-billion, Bombardier said Tuesday.

Bombardier Boosts Parts Support for Europe, Middle East and Africa

Dubai parts depot capacity expanded through move to Transworld Aviation Distribution hub capabilities successfully implemented at Frankfurt parts facility Bombardier Aerospace has continued to enhance its aftermarket offering for operators flying to Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Bombardier’s Dubai parts depot has grown and moved to a new facility, located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone area in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The expansion will allow for a greater inventory capacity and was successfully completed on September 30, 2012.

Bombardier has also taken further steps in bolstering its worldwide distribution network with the implementation of the Frankfurt parts hub earlier this year. The Frankfurt facility is now able to accept customer part returns and part exchanges, as well as certify parts and receive shipments direct from vendors, allowing for reduced turn time for units, and increased parts availability for customers in the EMEA region. The Frankfurt hub implementation was launched in early 2011 to enable increased functionality and parts distribution capabilities in Frankfurt. Further execution of the project will be phased over the next few years to optimize part availability within the network in the region and around the world.

“Our strategy to decentralize our support network will offer more regionalized support to all operators of business and commercial aircraft,” said Diane De Souza, Vice President, Parts Services, Bombardier Customer Services. “Parts support continues to be a top priority for Bombardier, and the expansion of our distribution capabilities is part of our initiative to improve parts satisfaction and local availability for our customers around the world.” The newly expanded Dubai parts depot will be operated through an agreement with Transworld Aviation, a pioneering company in the supply of aircraft spare parts in the UAE that caters to both the commercial and military aviation sectors. Transworld Aviation’s facility is fully staffed and operational 24/7 to cater to the diversified needs of Bombardier operators.

Driving parts satisfaction
Bombardier recently announced a permanent reduction on 2012 prices for a multitude of new commercial aircraft parts. The new pricing, spread across all commercial aircraft programs, includes proprietary and non-proprietary parts which are currently in demand from customers. Also included in the new pricing are high impact parts identified as being significant drivers of direct maintenance costs.

As part of an on-going priority to improve competitiveness of spare parts pricing for Bombardier business aircraft, reductions have also been made on many rotable exchanges prices and on a large number of proprietary and non-proprietary new spare part prices. Bombardier also offers price-matching on rotable and consumable parts and will extend the warranty period, from one to two years, on all spare parts purchased through its worldwide network for business aircraft as of January 1, 2013. Bombardier’s parts distribution network consists of ten facilities on five continents. The company operates two parts distribution hubs in Chicago and Frankfurt, complemented by eight regional depots worldwide. Business and commercial aircraft customers are supported by Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) who can be reached through Bombardier’s 24/7 Customer Response Centres. airBaltic Signs Firm Order for up to 20 CSeries Airliners

Bombardier Aerospace announced today that airBaltic has signed a firm purchase agreement to acquire 10 all-new Bombardier CS300 airliners. The Riga, Latvia-based airline also has purchase rights on a further 10 CS300 aircraft. The purchase agreement represents the conversion to firm orders of a Letter of Intent (LOI), announced at the Farnborough Air Show on July 10, 2012. The LOI also included the purchase rights on the 10 additional CS300 aircraft.

An undisclosed airline based in the Americas has signed a letter of intent to purchase 12 Bombardier CS100 aircraft, with options for another 18. Put them together and this LOI is worth about 870-million dollar and if the options are transformed into firm orders, the cost could jump to 2.08 billion. Bombardier says it now has 14 customers, nine of which have firm orders, for the CSeries programme. As of 30 September, the airframer had orders and commitments for 352 CSeries aircraft, including 138 firm orders.

Qantas Orders Three Bombardier Q400 NextGen Airliners

Bombardier Aerospace announced today that Australia’s largest domestic and international airline, Qantas Airways Limited has placed a firm order for three Q400 NextGen turboprop airliners. Based on the list price for the Q400 NextGen aircraft, the contract is valued at approximately $98 million US. Qantas will use the aircraft to strengthen its extensive network in the Australian domestic market. The Q400 aircraft has been vital to Qantas’ rapid expansion in regional Australia over the past five years.

This order will increase to 31 the number ofQ400 and Q400 NextGen airliners operated by Qantas. The airline also operates two Bombardier Dash 8-200, three Q200 and 16 Q300 aircraft. “Qantas is a valued and long-time Bombardier customer and has undoubtedly contributed much to the Q400 aircraft’s success and popularity in Australia,” said Mike Arcamone, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. “Qantas has once again decided to go with the Q400 NextGen turboprop, and this is a testament to the aircraft’s unmatched economics, reduced fuel burn and low operating costs.”

With the transaction announced today, Bombardier has taken firm orders for a total of 463 Q400 and Q400 NextGen aircraft. Worldwide, Q400 and Q400 NextGen aircraft have transported more than 243 million passengers and have logged over 3.8 million flight hours and more than 4.1 million take-offs and landings in service with more than 40 operators. Over 300 Bombardier commercial aircraft are operating in, or have been ordered for, the Asia-Pacific region.

From Friday, January 18 to Monday, January 21, Bombardier will have two field service representatives (FSR) and a Mobile Response Party (MRP) stationed at Landmark Aviation at Dulles International Airport in Virginia for the Presidential Inauguration of U.S. President Barack Obama. The two FSRs and the MRP are equipped to provide on-site support to customers based at Dulles International Airport, Washington National (KDCA), Manassas Regional (KHEF), Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (KBWI) and any airfields within a 60 mile radius of Dulles, VA.

In addition to the support for the Inauguration, an FSR and a MRP with two technicians will be on standby at Landmark Aviation at Lakefront Airport (KNEW) in New Orleans to provide technical support services for Learjet, Challenger and Global aircraft operators throughout the length of the Super Bowl festivities. The FSR and MRP will also be able to support customers located at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (KMSY) and any airfields within a 60 mile radius of New Orleans. Parts Services representatives will be able to accommodate customers with access to spare parts inventory located at Bombardier’s Chicago parts hub.

We want our customers to know that we are ready for them when needed year-over-year.”

Bombardier has a long history of providing on-site service and support to its customers at events around the world. The company has offered customers extensive support at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, the Inauguration of U.S. President Barack Obama in 2009 and the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing.

Furthering support at events in countries around the world

In 2013, the U.S. Presidential Inauguration and NFL Super Bowl are only two of many celebrations where the Bombardier Customer Services team will be on hand to facilitate access to the company’s support services. This year, Bombardier’s Customer Services team will also be ready for other major events such as the Rio de Janeiro Carnival (February 8 – 12), Daytona 500 (February 24), Kentucky Derby (May 4), Formula One Grand Prix in Monaco (May 24-26), Formula One Grand Prix in Montréal (June 7-9), FIFA Confederations Cup Tournament Celebrations in Brazil (June 15-30), Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix (November 1-4) with more to come.

Bombardier Commercial Aircraft Caps Off Successful Year for its Q400 and Q400 NextGen Aircraft Program

Recorded orders and options for up to 81 Q400 NextGen aircraft Q400 NextGen aircraft with new dual-class configuration entered service Approval awarded for Q400 and Q400 NextGen aircraft to operate in new countries Bombardier Aerospace announced today that its Q400 and Q400 NextGen aircraft program wrapped up a successful year in 2012 with up to $2.7 billion US in orders including 50 firm orders and 31 option aircraft, while welcoming seven new customers, operators and leasing companies.

“In 2012, the Q400 NextGen aircraft order book grew significantly with orders from first-time customers – WestJet and Eurolot − as well as from repeat customers looking to enhance their fleets with the only turboprop that accommodates more passengers and route possibilities,” said Mike Arcamone, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. “The Q400 aircraft spread further into secondary markets and, together with the Q400 NextGen aircraft, brought new customers, operators and leasing companies from almost every continent into the Bombardier turboprop family. This demonstrates the flexibility and performance capability of the aircraft.

“For airlines seeking high productivity and profitability on a diversity of routes, Q400 and Q400 NextGen aircraft are unbeatable. With up to 10 more seats, up to 35 per cent more cargo volume and with their jet-like speed, the aircraft can fly up to 18 per cent more flights per day than a competing turboprop. Bombardier expands business aircraft support network in Nigeria with addition of Authorized Service Facility

Bombardier Aerospace today increased its aftermarket service network for business aircraft customers with the addition of a Line Maintenance Facility (LMF) in Nigeria. ExecuJet Nigeria in Lagos has been named an LMF for Challenger 300, Challenger 604,Challenger 605, Global 5000, Global 6000, Global Express and Global Express XRS business jets. The facility will complement ExecuJet’s centre in Lanseria, South Africa, which has been part of Bombardier’s Authorized Service Facility (ASF) network since 2002.

“ExecuJet has greatly collaborated with Bombardier throughout the years. Their commitment to excellence coupled with their knowledge of our products make them an excellent choice for our Bombardier operators in the region,” said Éric Martel, President, Customer Services & Specialized and Amphibious Aircraft, Bombardier Aerospace. “The ExecuJet authorized facilities around the world are an important part of our overall network and we look forward to many years of continuing collaboration.”

The Nigeria facility, located at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, features a 4,700 sq. meter (approximately 50,590 sq. ft.) maintenance hangar and 25,500 sq. meter (approximately 274,479 sq. feet) apron. ExecuJet has been providing maintenance services for business aviation in Lagos for the last year and for over 10 years at its Lanseria International Airport location in Johannesburg. "We are honored to have been appointed as a Maintenance Facility by Bombardier in Lagos, Nigeria and this complements the services offered by our Bombardier ASF facility in Lanseria. Having obtained AMO certification from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authorities and South African Line Station authorization for the world-class maintenance and FBO facility in Murtala Muhammed International Airport, it is ExecuJet Nigeria’s intention to become full EASA certified this year and is aiming to achieve this status by end of the second quarter," said Ettore Poggi, Managing Director, ExecuJet Africa.

The announcement brings the number of Bombardier ASFs and LMFs, catering to Bombardier’s business and commercial aircraft customers worldwide, to more than 60 facilities. These are supported by nine Bombardier-owned service centres in North America and Europe. In the past two years alone, Bombardier has granted more than a dozen new ASF and LMF designations in locations worldwide, expanded capacity and scope at its first wholly owned service centre outside of North America, at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, and announced a new wholly owned facility for business aircraft to be opened in Singapore in 2013.

Pratt & Whitney completes the airworthiness certificate program for their new engine, the PW1524G engine that will power Bombardier's new C-Series aircraft. The engines will be seen on the CS100 initially and would havebeen tested already before the year was out but Bombardier cancelled the first flight from December until 2013 so you probably may see testing mid-this year.
