The V2500 engine from IAE has gone pass 250 million flight hours now. North American carrier jetBlue utilizes those engines on many of their aircraft. "We built JetBlue on the V2500-powered A320 family," said Colin Donohoe, director of heavy maintenance, JetBlue Airways. "With 192 such aircraft in our fleet today, we’ve seen firsthand how reliable and efficient these engines are. With the maintenance agreement to which JetBlue and IAE agreed in 2020, the V2500 will remain a mainstay of our fleet for years to come."

Another significant milestone in the making of the first A321XLR: The nose and front fuselage assembly has started in France, following the earlier accomplishment of the center wing box. Less than two months after the start of structural assembly of the rear & center fuselages in Germany, Airbus teams are taking another significant production step with the structural assembly and system equipment of the nose and front fuselages at its Saint-Nazaire facility in Western France.

Airbus has delivered the first A350 from its widebody completion & delivery center in Tianjin (C&DC), China, taking additional steps in the expansion of its global footprint and long-term strategic partnership with China. The A350-900 aircraft was delivered to China Eastern Airlines, the largest Airbus operator in Asia and second largest in the world. At the end of June 2021, China Eastern Airlines operated an Airbus fleet of 413 aircraft, including 349 A320 Family aircraft, 55 A330 Family aircraft and nine A350 aircraft. "I’m proud that Airbus successfully extended the capability of the widebody C&DC in Tianjin to the A350, the latest new generation aircraft, at such a difficult time of global aviation," said George Xu, Airbus Executive Vice President and Airbus China CEO. "This is a new milestone in the long-term cooperation between China and Airbus, which further demonstrates Airbus’ commitment to the country. Congratulations to China Eastern Airlines, our long-term strategic partner, for receiving the first A350 delivered from China, and I appreciate their trust in Airbus and in our products as always."

By now you would have heard about the choice that Condor made concerning their replacement of their Boeing 767s for their longhaul program. Their choice is the Airbus A330neo. "By operating the A320 and A330neo aircraft side by side, the airline will benefit from all the commonality economics these two premium products offer, with the embedded flexibility to address new and existing markets with the right-sized, right-efficiency aircraft."

There is a new airline around and this time it is located in Africa. It is a startup called Green Africa Airways in Nigeria. Having received its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) the new airline is looking to commence service on the 12th of August. It appears the airline is starting service with ATR aircraft. Green Africa is set to become one of the largest operators of the ATR72-600 in the region with plans to deploy 12-15 aircraft primarily across Nigeria between March 2021 and December 2022.
