All-Electric ES-19 Gains Traction With United Order United Airlines is back in the news once again after signing and announcing an agreement to purchase all-electric ES-19 turboprops. Not too long ago the airline shocked the world after announcing the order for a significant number of BOOM supersonic aircraft. Now the airline is going in the other direction instead of supersonic, they are going green and quiet. Heart Aerospace is the name behind the ES-19 aircraft and as the model name suggests, it will be a 19-seat shorter-range regional aircraft.
Short-range is going to be about 250 miles and the aircraft is set to take flight with commercial service in 2026. United suggests that potential routes for this new aircraft could be Chicago O'Hare (ORD) to Purdue University Airport (LAF), San Francisco (SFO) to Modesto City-County Airport (MOD). Naturally United's regional partner that operates for United Express -Mesa Airlines- will purchase and operate many of the same aircraft.
