Embraer cops an order from Emirates Flight Training for up to 10 Embraer Phenom 100E jets. The order specifically takes in five firm orders with options for another five. It is not a strange order as this aircraft even thought it is primarily made as a Light business jet, is in action in Australia, Finland and the United States with training institutes. Emirates will now expand that geographical reach when they start to take deliveries from 2017.

    More on the above-mentioned news

The Embraer Phenom 100 business jet was selected to provide multi-engine pilot training to armed forces aircrew in the United Kingdom. The contract with Affinity Flight Training Services will provide five aircraft to the U.K Ministry of Defence’s Military Flying Training System, (UKMFTS) program. The contract includes support services and an option for additional follow on aircraft. The Fixed Wing programme is intended to replace the elementary, multi-engine and basic flying training that is currently delivered on aging platforms with a new fully integrated solution that provides state-of-the-art training aircraft, ground based training devices and courseware all derived from the training design developed by Ascent Flight Training, the training service provider of the MFTS programme in UK. In 2014, Affinity was selected by Ascent Flight Training to provide and operate the aircraft selected for the MFTS programme.

“We are very proud to be selected in such an important programme for United Kingdom´s Ministry of Defence”, said Jackson Schneider, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security. “The Phenom 100 is a very reliable, cost-effective and easy to operate aircraft that was also selected to provide flight training services to major international airlines”. The UKMFTS takes United Kingdom armed forces aircrew from initial training through, elementary, basic and advanced flying training phases preparing them for their arrival at their designated operational conversion units. The system is operated by Ascent Flight Training, a consortium formed by Lockheed Martin and Babcock International under a Private Finance Initiative contract for the UK's Ministry of Defence.

With the Farnborough Air Show coming up next month, Embraer is still keeping things positive for their Embraer E190-E2 to make its debut at the show. That maybe a bit harder to actually fulfill although it isn't impossible. So far they have completed just under 40 hours of testing. Apparently they need a minimum of 50 to 60 test hours under the E2's belt in order to make the flight from Embraer in Brazil to Farnborough in the UK. To press time, there have been 267 orders for the E2 from various customers around the world.

Embraer Executive Jets announced that it signed a firm order with Colorful Yunnan General Aviation Co., Ltd., for two Phenom 300 light business jets. Both aircraft are scheduled to be delivered by the end of this year.Tang Xuefan, Chairman of Colorful Yunnan General Aviation and President of Yunnan Airport Group, said purchasing two Phenom 300s is the beginning of a win-win journey for both sides. “These Phenom 300s will be used in general aviation areas such as medical rescue, disaster-relief work and so on. They will also play a vital role in customized tourism and high-end leisure and business travel. I believe Embraer’s Phenom 300 will lead the way for Yunnan’s general aviation industry by filling the market void with various aviation services. And with the help of the Phenom 300, we would gradually expand our services in Yunnan and offer an effective supplement to Yunnan’s current aviation network.” Recognized as one of the most desirable light jets by fractional programs, charter services, corporate flight departments and owner-pilots, the Phenom 300 is in operation in 30 countries. To date, the fleet has accumulated over 300,000 flight hours.

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer will pay the US more than $205 million to settle bribery allegations, US regulators and the company announced on 24 October. Under the agreement reached with both US and Brazilian authorities, Embraer will pay the justice department $107 million as a penalty for one count of conspiracy to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act’s anti-bribery and records provisions, the company says in a statement. The penalty also includes $98.2 million in interest to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), but Embraer could receive an up to $20 million credit depending on the disgorgement the company will pay to Brazilian authorities, the SEC says. The payment caps off a six-year investigation by the SEC after the commission probed the company for suspicions of violating the FCPA. The bribery scheme garnered Embraer more than $83 million in profits. The SEC alleges Embraer made bribe payments from its US-based subsidiary through third-party agents to foreign government officials in the Dominican Republic and Saudi Arabia, according to the commission.
