IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Teterboro Airport will be closed to fixed-wing aviation traffic for 24 hours starting at noon on Saturday, August 7, lasting until noon the following day. The closure is to necessitate pavement repair on 6,000-foot Runway 06/24. The work will be done in less than 24 hours but still will require time to cure before the runway can become operational again.

Another new name has moved into the midwest region of the United States. FlightLevel Aviation is that name and have now taken up residence in Michigan at the West Michigan Regional Airport. The deal, which brings FlightLevel to 11 locations, includes the lone FBOs at West Michigan Regional Airport (KBIV) and at Muskegon County Airport (KMKG). At both locations, rebranding to the FlightLevel Aviation scheme will happen during the coming year.

Ross Aviation and key representatives from both the City of Scottsdale and renowned contractor JE Dunn broke ground Tuesday, June 1st on an expansive new hangar and office building complex at Scottsdale Municipal Airport (SDL). The new facility will further complement Ross Aviation’s already dominant presence at SDL which is one of the company’s most active year-round locations. The 56,000 square foot hangar, along with two 3,000 square foot office buildings, will provide a significant amount of new space for Ross Aviation’s base customers at the airport – and will feature two primary bays with the capability to easily accommodate both Gulfstream 650 and Bombardier Global Express aircraft.

Modern Aviation is about to undergo big expansion at its Denver’s Centennial Airport (KAPA) location where it is one of five service providers. Where the former XJet location was when they purchased in a few years ago the company will now more-than double its footprint thanks to a 20 million dollar upgrade. It will see a new 7,000-sq-ft FBO terminal to replace the 14 year old example that exists. Two heated hangars that combined offer 52,000 sq ft will be capable of sheltering up to Global 7500 size large cabin jets. Three acres of new ramp space will also be developed and the timeline for this project to come into service is by the 3rd quarter of 2022.

Million Air is set to open a facility in Hawaii. At first it will be a temporary facility. That facility will be operated by its franchisee Freeman Holdings Group at Honolulu Kalaeloa Airport/John Rodgers Field. The permanent facility will start build by the second quarter of 2022 and see the completion of a 20 million dollar complex at the end of the 18-24 month build phase. What's on offer from Million Air in Hawaii? A substantial fuel farm catering to capacities of 150,000 gallons of jet-A and 10,000 gallons of avgas. 10,000-sq-ft passenger terminal, a 30,000 sq-ft hangar with the ability to house long-range bizjets. "We are always looking for underutilized airports across the country that would benefit from our involvement and private investment that would serve as a catalyst for increasing activity," said Freeman CEO Scott Freeman. "We have long had Kalaeloa on our list of potential growth locations, and after some due diligence, we felt it was a project worth pursuing." Below is an impression of how the facility will look.

With the news that Million Air was landing with a setup in Hawaii, there is also news that the company will be further expanding its footprint in Texas. The 15 million dollar FBO will be going at Laredo International Airport and construction is expected to break ground in January of 2022 and anticipated to complete for operations by the end of 2022. A two-story 12,000 sq-ft terminal will be the centerpiece which will house passenger area, pilot lounge, snooze rooms, conference rooms and a 29,000 sq-ft hangar with space perhaps for future hangar development.

The Million Air FBO at Puerto Rico's Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci/Isla Grande Airport (TJIG) is being purchased by Modern Aviation. To be clear, the FBO is actually Hill Aviation which is a Million Air franchisee. They also agreed to purchase a satellite FBO operation at Jose Aponte de la Torre Airport (TJRV) in Ceiba, Puerto Rico, from Tommy Hill and VRM Companies. Modern's CEO Mark Carmen, stated, "We are very excited about acquiring Hill Aviation. Isla Grande Airport has been growing by attracting new based customers as it offers significant advantages compared to other regional airports: the FBO's location offers quicker access to/from the main roads in San Juan; and customers can directly access their aircraft on the ramp unlike at comparable airports in San Juan."

Bizav hangars that are Group II classed now are exempted from requirement for installed foam fire systems. This was done by The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) under its 409 Standard on Aircraft Hangars. So what is a Group II hangar you may be asking? These would include door heights of 28-feet or less and a single hangar bay comprising less than 40,000 sq ft.

Signature Flight Support, the world’s largest network of Fixed-Base Operations (FBOs), has announced the availability of pet clearance checks at its London-Luton terminal. The new service, performed in conjunction with Animal Aircare Ltd. and London Luton Airport, enables travelers arriving via charter aircraft in the United Kingdom to be accompanied by their cat, dog, or ferret. Animals arriving in the United Kingdom from international destinations are subject to an entry check in accordance with UK Animal & Plant Health Agency requirements. Signature and London Luton Airport have partnered with Animal Aircare Ltd., a licensed provider of pet entry checks, to perform the necessary review directly onboard an aircraft to allow for rapid, seamless onward journeys to Southeast England and beyond.

"The incorporation of pet screenings at our London-Luton FBO is illustrative of how we approach continuous improvement of the customer experience," explained John-Angus Smith, Managing Director EMEA for Signature Flight Support. "Luton Airport’s proximity to Central London has long made it a popular choice for business and private aviation travelers, and we can now extend the same globally-renowned service to our customers’ pets." Simon Harley, Head of Business Development at London Luton Airport, said, "We’re delighted to open the new pet reception centre. It’s great news for our customers and yet another reason why London Luton Airport remains the UK’s premier General Aviation airport".

Atlantic Aviation and Ross Aviation are expected to merge into one company. Ross Aviation's FBOs will now come under Atlantic's branding, the move is subject to regulatory approval. That process is expected to be completed by the first half of 2022. If the merger is approved the Atlantic branded facilities will swell to nearly 90.
