GainJet has increased the range of one of its luxury BBJ aircraft with the addition of 'Longrange' fuel tanks. The quick fix was done to their Boeing 737-400BBJ which now extends the flying hours of this particular model to 9-hours. New York to Paris or London to Dubai are now possible city-pairs with this aircraft thanks to the extra three hours of flight time added by the extra tanks.

Business jet and general aviation market remained relatively flat still with decent performance from the midsize sector with a couple of new aircraft in that segment coming on stream. For example, the Cessna Citation Latitude was one of those aircraft helping to boost Textron Aviation's shipments. Over in Latin America, Brazil's Embraer also saw increased shipments with the introduction of the Legacy 500 Light midsize jet. Although their slightly larger and longer cabin Legacy 600, 650 and Lineage 1000 fell below previous year figures. However, the Phenom line continues to be stellar for Embraer and even though those are in the Light market, still deserves a mention. Bombardier shipments declined as well with the late entry into service of the Challenger 650 suggested as part of the reason. Even though the top-end of the market (large cabin, longrange) took a hit in 2015 overall American manufacturer Gulfstream still performed impressively. The G450, G550, G650 continues to be the mainstay of the company at the moment.

A new piece of equipment maybe coming to the cockpit in the near future. A headset-mounted HUD is being trialed at the moment and has done about 40 hours of testing so far. It is coming on to the end of the 'proof-of-concept' phase for TopMax. TopMax provides an unlimited field of vision and easier installation at half the cost. The set has been trialed so far on a turboprop aircraft as well a couple hours in a simulator.

Isle of Man has now registered its 900th aircraft and the jet in focus designated with this number is a Dassault Falcon 900EX. The Isle of Man registry (prefix M-) has been quickly growing since its formation in 2007. Our continued efforts to further develop the Registry are designed to ensure that IOMAR supports a sustainable long term future for the highly successful Isle of Man Business Aviation sector. The fact that we have registered our 900th aircraft this week, a Dassault Falcon 900EX, and continue to grow at a healthy rate, regardless of tough trading conditions and global financial uncertainty, is the strongest possible endorsement that the Isle of Man business model is robust and highly effective.” said Simon Williams, director of civil aviation (DCA), Isle of Man. Apart from the US registration (prefix N-) Isle of Man has the most number of Gulfstream G650s under their registry with 15 at this point.
