While still at sluggish levels, business aviation traffic has marked its third consecutive month of year-over-year growth in Europe and is now up five out of the last six months. Citing Eurocontrol figures, the European Business Aviation Association notes that traffic has improved "but only just." In the U.S., meanwhile, traffic continues to strengthen, according to Argus. The researcher reports that traffic was up 1.9% in May.

Signature Flight Support announced that it has acquired the assets of FBO 2000. These include the latter’s location at Antigua/St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda (ANU), as well as those at Charlestown, Nevis (NEV) and Basseterre, St Kitts (SKB), both in St Kitts and Nevis. The newly rebranded Signature Antigua boasts an executive terminal that includes a lounge and offices, plus two hangars. The operation will continue to offer aircraft-to-yacht service. Signature notes that this specialized high-end service increases the island’s desirability as a luxury leisure travel destination.

Signature Nevis and St Kitts both have customs and immigration offices and offer passenger handling and other services for expedited clearance. This strategic acquisition by Signature adds three locations to the company’s Caribbean network of locations, which include San Juan/Isla Grande, Puerto Rico (SIG) and Sint Maarten, Netherlands Antilles (SXM). Signature Antigua and St Kitts have sizable ramp space and provide an option for remote parking for customers traveling to Sint Maarten at peak times.

Business jet buyers are expected to take delivery of 675 new aircraft worth about USD$20.5 billion this year, a slight rise over deliveries worth USD$20 billion 2013. The outlook for the next decade shows demand for 9,450 jets worth about USD$280 billion. That's up from 9,250 jets worth USD$250 billion in last years' long-range forecast, Honeywell International said.

Three global investment firms have launched a new leasing service – dubbed Global Jet Capital – with more than $2 billion in available financing catering to the large-cabin, long-range business jet market. The Boca Raton, Florida-based firm will be aimed at filling a perceived gap in in business jet financing services as some traditional lending sources have become last active over the last three years, says Shawn Vick, chairman of Global Jet Capital’s executive committee. “The conditions are right for asset-based structured financing services,” Vick says. Global Jet Capital will offer a broad range of financial services on new and used business jets, including operating and interim leases, finance leases and mortgage loans, progress payments and mezzanine financing, the company says.

NetJets pilots are upset about an alleged effort by the fractional-ownership giant to use Twitter and other social media to impersonate union members as part of a would-be plot to "weaken and ultimately destroy the union." Lawyers are suing NetJets Aviation over the alleged action directed against the 3,000-member NetJets Association of Shared Aircraft Pilots. The complaint, filed by the San Francisco law firm Kronenberg Rosenfeld LLP in U.S. District Court in Southern Ohio, claims that the fractional operator set up Twitter accounts that encouraged union members to "violate federal labor laws" and bait them into "supporting unlawful job actions." The lawsuit also alleges NetJets attempted to interfere with union elections, and in one Twitter message even threatened to blacklist pilots from other flying jobs if they left NetJets. (FLYING)
