Four persons, three Brits and a South African have perished today when the UK-registered Diamond DA42 they were in went down South of Dubai International Airport (DXB) in Dubai. The Dubai Media Office described the DA42 having a technical malfunction and crashed as a result. News accounts suggest that the aircraft was owned by Honeywell but it wasn't according to Honeywell in a statement. "We are deeply saddened by today's plane crash in Dubai, and our heartfelt condolences are with the victims' families. The plane was not owned or operated by Honeywell but by a third party engaged by Honeywell. We are waiting for more details," Honeywell said in a statement.

Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport control lost communication with the aircraft and asked the United States Air Force to investigate. Two US Air Force F-15 jets left from Homestead Air Reserve and intercepted the aircraft just prior to crashing into the ocean. This China Southern Airbus A380 encountered some horrible weather on the 26th of May while flying from Guangzhou to Beijing. It was at cruising altitude when it entered a hail storm and received substantial damage to the cockpit windshield, radome and leading edge surfaces. The crew quickly descended to around 16000 feet to get away from the adverse weather. Below you get an idea of the damage from inside the cockpit. Flight CZ3101 eventually landed in Beijing without incident or injuries to passengers and crew.

    On the 737MAX topic:

I'd mentioned much earlier - perhaps in conversation with @HTM09 or here on this thread - that I felt this would eventually boil down to a break in communication... a fatal one... and it seems more and more to be the case. Communication between Boeing and the FAA, between software engineers and hardware engineers, even between design teams working on the same parts of the aircraft.

If you read through this article you'll see that nobody knew what anyone else was doing. People were left to make changes without these changes being fed up the chain to the people that needed to know. There are so many questionable things that are reported in that article I can't quote them all.

Two were injured after the Icon A5 plane they were in flipped over on landing on water. It is likely the cause of the flipping was correlated to them having the gear down when they made contact with the water. The incident happened on Okanagan Lake, West Kelowna, British Columbia.

A Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330-343 had to make an emergency landing at Boston's Logan International Airport on Thursday night. There was a small fire onboard in the cabin that was apparently started by a passenger's personal device. The Airbus involved is believed to be G-VKSS (Mademoiselle Rouge). The aircraft was enroute from New York to London with 217 passengers. The fire was started by possibly a cellphone charger that was wedged between two seats. All passengers onboard were evacuated safely without incident.
