Airbus Unveils CityAirbus NextGen eVTOL Airbus has used the Airbus Sustainability Summit to unveil a new larger eVTOL called the CityAirbus NextGen eVTOL. The aircraft has been carded to first flight with a prototype in 2023. That would be followed by type certification in 2025 if all goes according to plan. The aircraft is a V-tail fixed wing airplane with eight electric motors and propellers. The cabin will take four passengers on journeys up to 50 miles at 75 miles and hour. "We are on a quest to co-create an entirely new market that sustainably integrates urban air mobility into the cities while addressing environmental and social concerns. Airbus is convinced that the real challenges are as much about urban integration, public acceptance, and automated air traffic management, as about vehicle technology and business models. We build on all of the capabilities to deliver a safe, sustainable, and fully integrated service to society," said Bruno Even, Airbus Helicopters CEO.
