NASA's All-Electric Experimental X-57 NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) has been working on an aircraft for a while now and we are now starting to see the tangible evidence of this effort. The experimental X-57 recently arrived at NASA and is to be an all-electric aircraft. Is NASA getting into the race of all-electric aircraft? Not really, this aircraft is actually a test bed to help develop and advance certification testing regimes for the new electric aircraft market.
This particular aircraft is only the first of three variations that are expected to be utilized by NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California. The current first aircraft is known as MOD II while the other two variations will be called MOD III and IV. Once the wing is fitted to MOD II, then ground trails will start followed by taxi and then flight tests eventually. For more information: NASA Headquarters 300 E.
