  1. Sabrewing Aircraft; Ameriflight Sign On LoI
Freight feeder company Ameriflight is back in the news again regarding the signing of a Letter of Intent to purchase Cargo Drones from a company called Sabrewing Aircraft. You may remember JF published an article recently on Ameriflight intending to purchase 20 Natilus pilotless cargo planes. The Sabrewing Aircraft signing is another intent on the part of Ameriflight to go in this direction utilizing non-piloted aircraft. The company says that it will be a complementary service and is not to replace its piloted aircraft. The order is for 35 of the autonomous cargo drones.
  2. Ameriflight President and COO Alan Rusinowitz commented: "In looking to the future, adding this advanced aircraft to our portfolio will complement our fleet and increase our assortment of assets, allowing us to expand our service areas through the development of warehouse distribution operations. With a payload capability of 2,000+ pounds, the Rhaegal-A is perfectly suited for the medium lift category operation. Sabrewing’s record-setting technology guiding Rhaegal-A as the world’s first autonomous cargo aircraft capable of both vertical and conventional take-off is an incredible milestone, and we are excited to partner with them on this new fleet." Sabrewing’s Rhaegal-A aircraft achieved its first hover flight in September 2022 while lifting a record-setting payload of 829 pounds. Ameriflight expects to take delivery once the aircraft is certificated.
