  1. Global 5500; 6500 Executive Jets Unveiled By Bombardier
Canadian airframer Bombardier announced yesterday that it is adding two new members to its Global family of jets, the Global 5500 and Global 6500. The announcement was strategically made just before the start of the 2018 EBACE event in Geneva, Switzlerland. They also announced the change in name for the Global 7000 which will be called the Global 7500 from now on. This will serve to strengthen the idea that they are likely not placing much emphasis on developing the Global 8000 too. The new additions will give operators of the Global 5000 and Global 6000 the opportunity to step-up to the 5500 and 6500 as these new jets are offering 500 and 600 nautical miles extra in range respectively. Coupled with a brand new interior that incorporates the new Bombardier 'Nuage' seat -which will premiere on the Global 7500 (formerly the 7000)- and also a dynamic chaise lounge -'Nuage Chaise' - which is set to redefine interior comfort. The Nuage chaise, which adds new dimensions to the conference suite as a lounge chair that converts into a flat surface for sleeping or banquet-style dining around the table.
  2. The bump-up in range on both new aircraft will allow the Global 5500 aircraft to connect Sao Paulo and Paris, and Moscow and Los Angeles while the Global 6500 aircraft can connect Hong Kong or Singapore and London, and Toluca and Madrid. Thanks to a redesigned wing and further efficient engines the additional range is possible. Purpose-built Rolls-Royce Pearl engines and a new wing make the Global 5500 and Global 6500 aircraft cleaner and more efficient. "Bombardier’s two newest Global aircraft are the result of our unrelenting commitment to innovation, excellence and most of all, our desire to deliver unmatched capabilities to our customers," said David Coleal, President, Bombardier Business Aircraft. "This next generation of performance stems from the winning DNA of our Global family of aircraft, now further enhanced through a newly optimized wing, a fully re-imagined cabin and new, purpose-built engines".
