  1. JAL and BOOM Supersonic Team Up

The supersonic business aviation race continues to heat up. Right now the main two contenders are Aerion Aerospace and BOOM Supersonic and it is a race to see which one will bring their supersonic business craft to market first. Each are making incremental strides towards the end goal and one of BOOM's latest announcements is a partnership with JAL, yes Japan Airlines.
  2. Japan Airlines (JAL) has agreed to a 10-million dollar injection towards BOOM's development of the jet carded to fly at Mach 2.2. Although this announcement this year may be news to the public, JAL and BOOM have been working outside of the media spotlight and have a decent working relationship going. "We are very proud to be working with Boom on the possible advancement in the commercial aviation industry," said Yoshiharu Ueki, President of Japan Airlines. "Through this partnership, we hope to contribute to the future of supersonic travel with the intent of providing more time to our valued passengers while emphasizing flight safety." Like the Aerion AS2 the EIS is anticipated for the mid 2020s. The Concorde-esq design is expected to carry up to 55 passengers. JAL has pre-ordered 20 aircraft joining the Virgin Group as established commercial airlines who are interested in the aircraft.
