Pro Line Fusion Upgrade For CJ2+ Approved By FAA With a recent Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) in hand the Collins Pro Line Fusion flight deck is now available for installation on the Cessna Citation CJ2+. This is nothing new per se for the CJ3 as Collins received their STC for the same flight deck for the CJ3 back in 2017. It is only now being filtered down to older Citation models. Regardless it is a great upgrade from the factory-installed Pro Line 21 flight deck on the CJ2+. Three large 14.1 inch landscape oriented touchscreen displays are part of the Pro Line Fusion upgrade in the CJ2+ and naturally facilitate a host of advantages and capabilities that were not possible on the Pro Line 21. Synthetic Vision System (SVS) is now available which is an added bonus to pilots situational awareness.
Pilots can now fly localizer performance with vertical guidance (LPV) approaches and radius-to-fix legs with Fusion’s SBAS-capable flight management system. You will find that this also includes performance-based navigation and FANS 1/A abilities. Other upgrades with the newer setup include moving-maps that are touch-screen and can display high-rez topographical related images, weather, obstacles, and georeferenced charts. Additionally, charts for flight plans are automatically staged with Collins’s ChartLink feature making it easy for planning. The horizontal layout of the screens also brings a modern and fresh appeal to the cockpit vs the small vertical/portrait orientation of the Pro Line 21. The CJ1 is going to be next for fitting of the Pro Line Fusion once the STC is in hand. Regulatory and approval bodies like Transport Canada and EASA are expected to approve the upgrades in the near future.
