Eviation Electric Planes Ordered By DHL Express Logistics and freight company DHL Express has made an order for all-electric aircraft. Eviation Alice all-electrical aircraft has caught the eye of DHL Express and they have made an order for twelve (12) of the type and they naturally will be for the company's freight operations. They actually expect to start taking deliveries from 2024.
The Alice aircraft in the renderings provided are widely different from the schematics we saw back in 2019 and 2020. Then the aircraft sported a V-tail and props on the wing tips. Now the Alice is more conventional looking with a T-tail and rear-mounted props. Of course this is to make it practical for cargo transport but the passenger variant also has been designed similarly. With sustainability being on the lips of everyone, electric aircraft are gaining traction. "We strongly believe in the zero-emission future of logistics," said John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express. "Together we are venturing into a new decade of sustainable aviation." The maiden flight for the Alice is expected later this year. The useful cargo carrying capacity is over 2,600 lbs and the aircraft can fly up to 440 nautical miles.
