GE Aviation Stops Work On Affinity Engine For AS2 With the news that Aerion Aerospace suddenly ceasing operations work on the powerplant that was destined to power the aircraft has also stopped. The Affinity engine being made by GE Aviation was expected to be the powerplant powering the supersonic AS2 by Aerion. GE Aviation has been working in the supersonic sector for business/airliner jets being designed for this purpose. The AS2 was not the only jet that GE Aviation was making an engine package for. In fact just last year the company handed over two powerplants (F414-GE-100) for the NASA X-59 QueSST. Below we see the AS2 in Net Jets colours as they were a customer for the supersonic jet.
