  1. HondaJet 2600 Could Be A Reality Soon
It was back in October 2021 that JetForums brought you news of the announcement of a new variant called the Hondajet 2600. https://www.jetforums.net/threads/news-honda-aircraft-company-unveils-hondajet-2600.4002/. The announcement back then was more to test the waters to see what the response of the market would have been like. The Honda Aircraft company has been focused on building the HA-420 in its different subvariants for the last few years and this has kept them in the Very Light Jet category. If they went ahead with the HondaJet 2600 this would push them into Light Jet territory but with a cabin approaching that of a Midsize jet.
  2. This month The Honda Aircraft company is planning to meet with suppliers to discuss and formulate plans. While a concrete decision has not been made on the HondaJet 2600 with regards to bringing it to market, the airframer is certainly pushing a potential program in that direction. As a refresher, a future HondaJet 2600 would be using a similar setup in terms of the Over The Wing Engine Mount (OTWEM) arrangement for the powerplants. With a proposed range of 2,625 nautical miles this would provide it with Trans-continental reach. Maximum operating ceiling will be 47,000 ft and max cruise should be in the region of 450-knots.
  3. The cabin will also be different in terms of dimensions. Other than being physically longer, the cabin will be more oval-shaped giving a smidge more room overhead and width wise. Width wise the 2600 is only an inch wider than the HA-420 but it is 4.5 inches taller which will make a big difference in space perception. If The Honda Aircraft company does finally go-ahead and put the 2600 into market the current CEO, Hideto Yamasaki said they would want to leverage The Honda Motor Co. talent and facilities to lower overall costs as he suggests HA-420 is already pretty costly.
  4. There will be many commonalities with the HA-420. An autothrottle, runway overrun awareness and alerting system, electric spoilers, steering, and brakes are also included. The Garmin G3000 avionics suite is going to be used on the 2600 as The Honda Aircraft company is targeting a high degree of commonality with the in-production HondaJet. Should they push the 2600 towards market this will serve to provide a seamless and quicker type-rating transition to the HondaJet 2600 as well as certification.
