150 mile Test Flight For Joby eVTOL aircraft Most of the 'news' concerning the eVTOL space is about new concepts, actual ground testing, hovering in place or limited flying around a small closed course. The Joby eVTOL has broken this theme and created some sort of a record in the current electrified vertical take off and landing air taxi space. This is perhaps the first time that an eVTOL has flown more than 150 miles and the folks over at Joby made it happen. This is narrowing the reality of actually having eVTOLs zipping around urban spaces in the very near future.

By doing so we’ve taken the first step towards making convenient, emissions-free air travel between places like San Francisco and Lake Tahoe, Houston and Austin, or Los Angeles and San Diego an everyday reality." Although this is a huge milestone for the company they aren't ready to take anyone around just yet. Joby’s aircraft is expected to start commercial passenger service in 2024, transporting a pilot and four passengers at speeds of up to 200 mph.
