  1. Pilatus Concludes PC-24 Rough Strip Certification
Swiss airframer Pilatus Aircraft announced that it has successfully concluded rough-field certification campaign. Rough-field operations under the certification is grass, wet earth and snow. Of course back in 2018 the aircraft was certified to operate on gravel as well as dry sand. Put all together and it puts the PC-24 in a class of its own in terms of operating from a myriad of unproven surfaces. That is partly what gives it such broad appeal to a number of customers like the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) that may have to operate from some of these types of strips given the nature of their work.
  2. The excellent runway in Goodwood, England was selected for the tests on dry grass. Further tests on grass runways were carried out at Kunovice in the Czech Republic, at Poitiers in France and at Duxford, England. At Woodbridge, England, complex conditions were reproduced in part in order to meet all test specifications for take-offs and landings on wet dirt surfaces. The PC-24 was also flown in North America: tests on snow-covered gravel runways were performed at Kuujjuaq in Canada. It really deserves its name, the Super Versatile Jet.
