  1. Atlas Winglet Issues Pushes Tamarack Aero To Bankruptcy
The on-going issues relating to the Atlas winglets of Tamarack Aero fitted on many Cessna Citation jets has forced the company into bankruptcy. With Airworthiness Directives (ADs) issued by both the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The ADs has effectively grounded global fleets of the Citation 525 series aircraft and as a result has the company retrofitting (for free). The bankruptcy they say is just a temporary measure.
  2. "The decision to enter Chapter 11 [reorganization] allows Tamarack to continue to operate and focus all activities on supporting the Atlas winglet customers and to support EASA and FAA as they consider the proposal for lifting the restrictions imposed by the ADs," the company stated. On the part of Tamarack Aero Service Bulletins were issued. One of these bulletins was issued for the replacement of a screw inside the Tamarack Active Camber Surfaces (TACS) actuator. The second bulletin was for installation of aerodynamic centering strips on those surfaces. Tamarack Aero suggests that around 73 percent of the fleet with Atlas winglets has been fitted with these upgrades.
