  1. Transcend Air Signs With GE Aviation Engines For Vy400
Transcend Air Corporation has signed an agreement with GE Aviation for engines to power the Vy400 High Speed Vertical Take Off Landing (HSVTOL) aircraft they have in development. Under the agreement GE Aviation is to develop and certify a custom variant of GE’s class-leading CT7-8 turboshaft helicopter engine. The aircraft is being designed to transport passengers on mid-town trip-distances. The Vy400 can carry a pilot and four or five passengers (depending on the weight) and their baggage (up to 50lbs a piece). It is envisioned to carry this load @MGTOW 300/450 SM.
  2. The cabin is pressurized to an altitude of 8,000 feet and inside is to be finished with an executive-style interior. For safety there will be a Whole airframe parachute (BRS), Health and usage monitoring, Flight into known icing (FIKI) and Mission protection via geofencing. The aircraft will be a fly-by-wire plane too. The high-speed Vy400 will travel more than 400 miles per hour, permitting flights from Manhattan to Boston in just 36 minutes. "We have optimized the Vy 400 design to shatter the current time/cost barriers for regional city-to-city travel," said Gregory Bruell, Co-Founder and CEO of Transcend Air. Harry Nahatis, Vice President & General Manager of GE Rotorcraft Engines, noted, "We immediately recognized the Vy 400’s disruptive potential in both civil and military rotorcraft applications, and we are excited to contribute our own world-class engines and technical expertise in helping to ensure the Vy’s success."
