  1. United Reveal Latest Route With Archer Midnight eVTOL
United Airlines has revealed its latest eVTOL route with the pending Archer Aviation Midnight eVTOL. The large American airline expects to start taking delivery of the Archer Aviation Midnight eVTOL from around 2025 so they are already making plans for the first route types. The United Archer Aviation Midnight eVTOL will transport passengers between O’Hare International Airport and Vertiport Chicago, the city’s only downtown heliport facility. By car, that kind of distance can take an hour sometimes in rush-hour traffic. By this eVTOL, the time will be reduced to as little as 10 minutes. "Both Archer and United are committed to decarbonizing air travel and leveraging innovative technologies to deliver on the promise of the electrification of the aviation industry," said Michael Leskinen, President of United Airlines Ventures. "Once operational, we’re excited to offer our customers a more sustainable, convenient and cost-effective mode of transportation during their commutes to the airport."
  2. Vertiport Chicago already exists mainly as a heliport but naturally will be able to accept eVTOL operations. Opened in 2015, it is situated roughly 12 miles (19 kilometers) southeast of the airport. This now represents the second route that United announced, the first being between Newark Liberty and the downtown Manhattan heliport that they announced in 2022. It appears that FAA certification for the Archer Midnight eVTOL is on track towards the end of 2024. Although it is the second overall route announced it would be the first for Chicago.
