  1. Volocopter Flown By Pilot At EAA AirVenture
Recently JetForums wrote an article about the Joby eVTOL flying over 150 miles which was a first for any eVTOL. However, that aircraft was flown remotely and not by a pilot. Volocopter however, has flown the Volocopter 2X at the ongoing EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin with a pilot, marking the first time that an eVTOL has been flown by a pilot at a public event in the United States.
  2. Although it was a very short flight it was the significance that was important, demonstrating the maturation of the technology at this stage. The Volocopter 2X never went past 164-feet in altitude or 18 mph in forward speed. It all lasted for approximately four minutes. "Volocopter successfully conducting the first US public manned test flight of an eVTOL company in the US is a milestone for the industry and a reminder that our commercial launch is fast approaching. We can talk about our lead in certification, low noise emissions, and global partnerships all we want, but nothing shows just how close we are to launch UAM as a service as does flying an air taxi in front of crowds and inviting people to sit in our aircraft. Air taxis are coming, and we are working to bring electric flights to cities around the globe in the next two to three years," says Florian Reuter, Volocopter CEO.
