Volocopter; SkyPorts Building First Vertiport For EVTOL The world of electric vertical take off and landing (EVTOL) aircraft for Urban mobility is literally and tangibly taking off. It isn't just designs, rhetoric and early-phase development anymore. Volocopter and Skyports are teaming up to build the world's first Vertiport, yes Vertiport. The Jetsons age is soon here. This however, is basically going to be a test bed to be able to show stakeholders, officials and more importantly regulators how EVTOL will perhaps work in the future. The Vertiport will be located in downtown Marina Bay area in Singapore.
The components for the Vertiport are actually under construction in China and are expected to be shipped to Singapore towards the end of this month for assembly. The opening date for the new facility is October 21st. They are then hoping to be able to launch commercial operations by 2022. Despite this real world push for the Vertiport, there is still real confusion, lack of consensus when it comes to understanding and implementing EVTOL infrastructure and making it work on a commercial scale.
